Tower of London Tour

About

An independent guide, and what that means

Tower of London Tour is not the Tower of London. It is an independent website about visiting it.

What we are

The site has been published independently since 2019. It began as a set of tower-by-tower guides with links to tickets and tours, written for people trying to work out what to book and how long to allow. In 2026 it was rebuilt from the ground up around three things: a visit planner that works from verified data, a library of researched stories tied to the places where they happened, and a ticket comparison that says who needs each option and who does not.

It is edited by Zoey Davies, working with a small team of freelance tour guides who know the fortress well. It does not employ Yeoman Warders and it has no connection with Historic Royal Palaces, the charity that cares for the Tower, whose official visitor information is at hrp.org.uk. We link to it from every page where it matters.

What we are not

We do not sell tickets. Every booking is completed with the provider named on the button: Historic Royal Palaces for official tickets, or Viator for third-party tours. Some of those links are affiliate links, which earn us a commission if you book; official tickets earn us nothing and are listed first whenever they are the best choice. Full disclosure here.

We do not show live prices or availability, because we have no live feed. Every price and opening time on the site carries the date it was last checked against the official page by a person. When something is more than a couple of months old the site says so next to the fact.

How the stories are written

Each story is researched from the sources listed at its foot, most often Historic Royal Palaces' own history pages, and separates what the record shows from what is disputed and what is legend. We do not invent quotations, eyewitnesses or experiences. Where a famous scene rests on a single later source, the story says so. The editorial policy describes the rules and how to report a mistake.

Photographs

Photographs are used under licences that permit reuse, mostly Creative Commons images by photographers credited on the page, and public-domain artworks. Paintings and etchings are labelled as illustrations: they are later imaginings, not records. Image credits.
